The Official Contest Rules for the SMASH 2023 Homebrew Competition:

1. WELCOME

Thank you for your interest in the SMASH Homebrew competition in , Croatia. Competition is being held on May 6th 2023 at Pivkan pub (Šoltanska ulica 10, 21000 Split, Croatia).

 

SMASH is a competition where each entrant will have to brew a Single Malt & Single Hop beer.

SMaSH brewing is an excellent way for a brewer to learn about the flavors of various malts and hops impart on a beer. It is also a very economical way to brew as it minimizes the cost of the batch. 

 

2. AWARDS

The awards ceremony will take place on May 6th 2023 once judging is completed and it will be the culmination of the Beer Days event at Pivkan pub.

Medals will be awarded for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place, and awards will be given to 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th place.

Awards can be picked up only in person on the day of the competition. If you are not able to attend, you cover the postage fee for shipping and we will send awards to you.

 

Sponsor awards will be announced on our social media.

 

3. HOW TO REGISTER

Go to 'How to register' and fill in the contact form.

You will need to fill in your email, first and last name.

If you have any questions about this competition write it in the message part of the form.

 

You can also register via email by sending all necessary information to: smash.homebrew@gmail.com

 

When you register you will get an email with the payment information, after which you will receive bottle IDs for printing.

 

Registration will open on February 21st at 12 pm (noon). It will close when the maximum number of participants is reached (50) or until March 24th at 11pm. The time valid for UTC + 1 zone.
 

 

4. WHO CAN REGISTER

This competition is open to everyone over 18 years of age, worldwide. Measures are in place to ensure fair and anonymous judging. For this competition the beer must be made at home. Those beers made in commercial establishments, including brew-on-premise establishments, are not eligible.

Each entrant can register with only one beer.
 

5. WHAT TO BREW

Smash beer must be brewed with one malt and one hop. In this SMASH beer we determined the specific style and hop, which you can find below.

Hop: Sabro

Yeast: Optional
 

6. BOTTLE SPECS

You need to send 3 x 0,33l or 0,5l size bottles. Only these sizes will be accepted.

Bottles must be without any kind of markings: no raised glass, labels, logos, marks on the cap or anything similar.

Each bottle must have a bottle ID paper attached to it with a RUBBER band. The ID paper and number is sent to you after paying the registration fee (we recommend placing labels in plastic sheets).

The bottles can be delivered by mail or in person at Pivkan pub.

If sending by mail please ensure the bottles are well packed, we are not responsible for any packages that arrive damaged. 

Beer must be delivered to Pivkan pub, Šoltanska ulica 10, 21000 Split, Croatia.
 

7. ENTRY FEE

The entry fee for this competition is 15 EUR.

The fee can be paid with a bank transaction.

No refunds.

 

8. DEADLINE

The deadline for registration is March 24th at 11 pm.

The deadline for bottle delivery is May 3rd at 11pm.

The time valid for UTC + 1 zone.
